A Poem: Last…I Take Your Life

I am your eating disorder.

First.

I take control of your mind.

The numbers.

The scale.

The shame.

The thoughts.

don’t

end.

Next.

I steal your family and friends.

The lies you tell your loved ones.

Avoiding events for food.

Working late to miss dinner.

Skipping holidays and get-togethers.

Spending all your time in the gym.

Sleeping through all your meals.

Then.

I harm your body.

Hair loss.

Brain fog.

Exhaustion.

Stomachaches.

Not enough sleep.

Shoddy memory.

Muscle aches.

Acid reflux.

Join pain.

Last.

I take your life.
